Henry Fowle Durant
Henry Fowle Durant, born as Henry Welles Smith, was a lawyer and philanthropist from Boston.
After the death of his son, he founded what later became Wellesley College in 1875. During this time, it was extremely difficult for women to acquire higher education.
Currently, Wellesley College is one of the most prestigious schools in the United States.
